Saving Money While Shopping

With the economy the way it is today we all have been trying to make that dollar go as far as it can. Many of us have found that pennies really do make a difference and every one of them count. Maybe you are looking for a few more ways to save, here are a few ideas that you may be interested you.

*Coupons- Whether you get them in the newspaper or on-line they are well worth the paper they are printed on. Many people fail to take the time to utilize this saver, but coupons can save you a LOT of money. Many stores will double the face value of the coupon  as long as it does not say, “Do not double”.

*Shop more than one store- If you live in an area where there are multiple grocery stores utilize them all. Use the store flyers and shop the sales. Have a list and plan in place BEFORE you leave home. By combining coupons with sales you often can save big money!

*Stock up- When things are on sale and you have coupons to match, stock up. Why not? If it is something you can use and you need, go ahead. Just be careful to not overstock, this can be a waste of money. Do not overstock on perishables either, this would be a waste of money if you do not go through them fast enough.

*Generic- Do not be afraid of generic or store brand products. Give them a try at least once, if you do not like them go back to your favorite. Generic do cost much less than the name brands though.

*Weigh- When buying anything that is sold by weight, weigh it. This applies mostly to produce. If the item is $1 each weigh a few and find the heaviest. Get the most for your money.

*Mark-downs- Do not be afraid of mark-downs, they can save you huge amounts of money. Day old bread or veggies can still be usable. Pick them over and find the best.
