Have you ever been a situation in which you spent your money on something, and then you regretted it later on? If that is the case, then you have probably been motivated to save in that situation, in spite of having a habit which caused you to take the more expensive path of spending more. A lot of times, people will end up doing what they are used to doing, whether or not it really benefits them, simply out of habit. Unfortunately, these people have never really heard of conscious spending. Or if nothing else, they have never really thought about trying to practice it.
See, when a person spends consciously, they are aware of what they are spending their money on. And they only do so if it is on something which really matters to them. So they are not just going to blow their cash on whatever pretty piece of junk sits there looking desirable. They will spend their money on what really matters to them, no matter how much pretty junk may be looking good to them. After all, there are a lot of things you can spend on. But do you even want most of them?
In a lot of people’s cases, they are really far less interested in spending their money on the pretty junk in this world, and are far more interested in spending it on the things that really matter to them. Of course, choosing what these things are is a chore sometimes. You have got to make a decision which is based on what you really want, instead of on what all of the ads tell you is the best thing to do. Spend on what matters.
